Another month in the history books. September was interesting. I’ve been super busy at work, but right now, things have quieted down. But, unfortunately, that’s how my job is. Ups and Downs. Sometimes I’m busy and other times, I am not. Anyway, I’m excited to dive in to see how much dividend income September brought in.
Dividend Growth Investing remains one of my favorite strategies to earn passive income. Despite being busy at work, my dividends were working for me in the background. Though I was focused on various challenges, my money was focused on earning me more money. That’s how I like it.
Dividend Income
In September, I received a total of $28.72 in dividends, broken down as follows:
- JNJ —- $8.07
- MMM – $2.79
- O —— $3.28
- XOM — $14.58
Not a lot of companies paid me dividends, but it’s a respectable amount. And, for what it’s worth, it was higher than last month. I realize that month-to-month comparisons are not the greatest, but next year I will definitely be making yearly comparisons.
Forward Annual Dividends
I’m happy to report that I broke the $500 mark in my forward annual dividends. At the time of this writing, my forward annual dividend income is $572.23. My annual goal is to surpass $700 in dividend income. I don’t think I’ll make it, but we will see. I am very confident that I should be able to surpass the $600 mark by the end of the year.
Finally, no new stocks were added to my dividend portfolio this month.
Conclusion
How was September for you? Did you break any records? Let me know by commenting below.
Congrats! I’m sure you’ll break the $600 mark no problem! I just broke a record month 🙂
Cheers!
Awesome Dividend Investor. Thanks for stopping by. Looking forward to checking out your blog. It’s always good having a record month!
Congratulations on crossing $500! September was a great month for me as well. It was my second month ever over $1000. You’ll get there soon enough.

Scott, that’s incredible. It’s going to take me a while to get there but I plan on continually investing in dividend growth. Glad September was a good month for you.
Glad to find someone in a similar situation. I think you should be able to reach 700. But please don’t chase yield 🙂

Thanks Geek. I have zero interest in chasing yield. I like higher yields can anyone else but far more interested I string stable companies.
Congrats on reaching the $500 annual dividend income mark! I think it’s better to set higher targets and do your best to achieve it than set a low target where you don’t even need to try to reach it.
Keep up the progress you are making!

Thanks BI. I think you’re right. It helps when goals are realistic but yet challenging enough to reach.
Glen,
Congrats on your quarter divs. $600 looks like an obtainable goal. Are you planning on any new purchases in the 4th quarter to try to hit $700?

Thanks Brian. I’m not planning on any major new purchases until maybe fall of next year or more likely summer of 2019. I do plan on putting in about $800 or so a month into my current portfolio. That might slightly increase or decrease depending on circumstances but that’s the plan. But I won’t have another influx of cash for a while.
Congrats on breaking the $500 mark! I also broke a nice mark this September lol. It gets better and better. Keep up the great work DP! 😀

Nice job and things are looking good! Those 4 companies are rock solid as well. What’s the plan to $700? Dissect it and you’ll find a way to get there, come on!

Yea. I really like the companies that are in my portfolio. Regarding the $700 mark, my plan is to keep contributing my monthly minimum contribution amount to my portfolio which is right around $800. I haven’t done the math to see if that’s enough but it does not appear to be.
My problem is I have other goals, such as paying off my student loans. So any extra cash will likely go to that than towards the portfolio.
It might not be a lot of companies, but I think you’ve picked some good ones. You have the best companies in four entirely different sectors paying you in September. Intentional or not, I like it!
Thanks dozer. I really try to choose solid companies because I’m terrible at picking out what the next hot top stock is. I just don’t try to play that game. Slow and steady wins the race.
Very nice! All great companies that are sure to pay dividends and grow them for many many years.
That’s the idea Mr. ATM. Long term investing is the name of the game.
Gratz! 4 solid companies. Glad to see we are fellow shareholders of 3 of them. Hopefully you make it to your $700 goal this year.
I am going to enjoy the end of the year and seeing your smaller dividend amounts being collected. Because I know for sure, once next year rolls around you will end up probably surpassing me haha. Keep up the good work and quality purchases. All great names paying you this month.

Solid month and congrats an breaking the 500$ mark! I’m confident that you’ll hit your goal, just keep working on it!
Thanks Mr. Robot. It may take longer than anticipated but looking forward to hitting $700.
Will keep my fingers crossed for $700 🙂 Strong month for us too, no records broken though.

You and me both Mr. SLM, you and me both.
Would you look at that! What was your original goal before you had the bonus? Can´t remember anymore, but heck: You´re doing great DP!
Thanks Stockles. I made a new goal for the year. I don’t think I’ll make it but will be working towards it every month. Gonna reassess at the beginning of the new year.
Thanks for sharing your recent dividend report. Just keep plugging away, dollar by dollar, single share by single share. For just a handful of stocks you have some solid names paying you. Keep up the good work and though you may not hit $700 for 2017 you should always be aiming to best your previous year results at the least.

Appreciate it Div Hut. The $700 goal was made after I had reached my goal earlier in the year, so I’m totally fine not reaching this goal. I should cross the $600 mark by next month, so we will see how close I get to it.
My first time stopping by… I really like the portfolio. The investments in various companies look to be fairly evenly distributed. You’ve got a solid foundation on which to build. Sounds like you are really going to attack those student loans. Once those are gone you should have some nice additional capital to add to the portfolio. I look forward to checking out the blog on a regular basis and seeing continued progress.

Hey ED. Welcome to the blog. And, I agree with your sentiment. I’ve been side track recently with various life circumstances, but looking to get back on track with reducing that student loan debt. Looking forward to seeing you more often on the blog Paul.
Nice job breaking the $500 mark, hopefully you can push hard and hit your goal but it is late in the year!

TITM, it’s gonna be hard to reach my goal. I had a chance, but then I also had two big unexpected expenses that came up, which is making everything tight right now. But, I’m really excited about crossing that $500 mark.
