Great News

I have some great news.

20k Bonus:

For sometime now, I have been writing about how to invest 20k. The reason being is that I expect to receive a 20k bonus from work. Well, I checked the status and I am happy to report that my 20k bonus has been approved. I’m so excited. I haven’t seen the funds in my account as of yet. But, I fully expect to see those funds in short order. If not this paycheck then probably my next paycheck. So, August is going to be a good month for my projected annual dividend income.

So, the next time I write about this issue, the topic is going to be, how I invested 20k (although it may actually be how I invested 10k).

Rental Car Damage:

I’m also happy to report that my credit card company approved my damage collision claim. If you recall, I rented a vehicle and returned it with $700 worth of damage, including admin fees. Well, my credit card company will be reimbursing me $500. Now, although they mailed me my check, I haven’t received it yet. The problem is, I am overseas for the next year and so I have to figure out a way for them to actually send me the funds. It may take a while for me to get, but it’s going to eventually be coming.

Conclusion:

I just wanted to write a short post to give a quick update on the above financial matters. After my recent setbacks, the above is very much welcomed news. Also, I’m working on other projects as well. It’s not necessarily financial, but it’s related to this blog. So stay tuned.

Btw what is your regular average income and spending? Did not fintd that. Interesting to see how big is that 20k$ for you 😉 for me that would be my whole annual income.

Well, it’s definitely huge for my income. I actually don’t know the exact amount and choose not to actually figure it out. But, sufficed to say, I make between 40k and 100k per year. It’s a big range, but I try to maintain a certain amount of privacy online. As for my expenses, I don’t know that on top of my head (although I could easily figure it out). The reason is that I consider the savings I contribute to my retirement accounts, and the contributions I make to this dividend portfolio, as mandatory expenses. I’m fairly certain I save over 40% (closer to 50%) of my salary. Maybe one day I will do the math p2035, and that actually might be sooner rather than later. Especially because the contributions to my retirement account is based on a percentage (instead of whole dollar amount) of my income, and so since I also just got a raise, I need to ensure that the correct amount is being taken out so i can maximize my 401k contributions this year.

Yea – looking forward to the increase. And you’re right, the fact that you’re getting a bonus, even if it’s not that high, is still a good thing.

Congrats on the 20K bonus! Great way to end July and kick-start August. Got a bonus a few months ago, but I was too new an employee to get much. Nevertheless, it was good to get a couple hundred dollars extra in my paycheck. 🙂

Thanks DD. It’s always good to get an influx of cash in your account. Right now I’m just reading up on several companies I’m interested in picking up to add to my portfolio.

    DP,

Congratulations on the bonus. I have an idea how that feels. I just received a significant promotion at work and with it a significant salary increase. But I don’t get see what that feels like in a lump sum. Enjoy that money.
