Introducing Inspirational Quotes Of The Month

By | October 26, 2017

Recently, I had a moment to reflect. I wanted to take the time to think about where I’ve been, where I am today, and where I want to be in the future. I’m glad I took the time. This blog has come a long way since it’s inception. Well, one of the things I thought about was how to add value to my readers. I realize many readers get value simply by following my progress as a dividend growth investor. That’s good to know and I appreciate every one of you. But, I want to add more value. Specifically, I want to give my readers something to look forward to every month, in addition to my monthly updates to my dividend portfolio. After much thought, I came up with introducing inspirational quotes of the month.

Inspirational Quotes Of The Month

So, what are inspirational quotes of the month? Well, to put it simply, my plan is that each month, I will post one quote that I am inspired by or that I think might inspire or motivate others. Sometimes, we could use a little motivation or inspiration along the way. The road to financial freedom via dividend investing is a long one. There might be bumps in the road. There might even be ditches, or roadblocks, or worse. During those times, being reminded of a clever quote, or a motivational witticism might be the catalyst to feeling better, or finding the strength out of it. At the very least, maybe the quote can help you get through the month just a little bit easier. That’s the value I hope to provide.

The Plan

Well, the first thing that’s going to happen is that I’m going to post one quote for the month (around the 15th of every month), starting with this very post. I will say a little bit about why I chose the quote and/or maybe what the quote means to me. However, I want to make this a community affair. So, if you would like to participate, when you leave comments, also include in the comment section your favorite quote, or just a quote you like that you think might be motivational or inspirational. Quite frankly, it doesn’t have to fit the criteria of being inspirational or motivational. It could simply be funny, or just a quote you like. There is also no requirement that you talk about the quote.

Then, the next month, I will publish all the quotes from the previous month into a collection of inspirational quotes for the present month. I will attribute the quotes (with the appropriate website link) to the members of the community who posted them in the comments section of my blog.  If you leave a little blurb about why you chose that quote, I might post that as well. If you leave two or more quotes in the comments section, I may only select one.

To ensure that your quote make it in time, I ask that you leave it in the comments section no later than the 10th day of the month.

So Why Inspirational Quotes?

I will be the first to admit that I’m a beginner and still very much learning about blogging and investing in the DGI strategy. So, I can’t yet provide the latest stock analysis, or most up-to-date investment tool. However, coming up with one quote a month and pooling the quotes from the community into a monthly post are things I can do to contribute and add value. Even though I have a demanding job that keeps me busy, I can find the time to do this. Plus, I’m sure these quotes will help inspire me as well as you, so it’s definitely a win-win.

Finally, I want to address the issue as to why I will post the inspirational quotes around the 15th of the month, instead of the natural 1st of the month. The main reason is that around the first of the month, I try to post my dividend income from the previous month. I didn’t want to compete with that regular post. The 15th of the month is a natural time for me, because that’s about when I get paid again. So, I can easily remember that I have to make this kind of post at that time. It also gives my readers an expected time when they can see my pick of inspirational quotes for the month. That is why I’m asking that if you want your quotes to be included, to have it in the comments section by the 10th of the month.

As this is the first month I’m doing this, ensure that your quotes are in the comments section by the 10th of November. If for some reason I get an overwhelming number of responses, I might limit the quotes to the top 20 or something like that.

My Inspirational Quote for October

Without further ado, here is my inspirational quote for October:  “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.”Henry Ford.

I chose this quote because I was debating for a while whether I should start this inspirational quotes of the month project. It’s definitely stepping outside my comfort zone a little with blogging, but I think it’s worth doing. The quote reminds me that our mindset plays a key role in determining whether we achieve our goals or not.  So, if you’re struggling with a decision, consider whether or not you have the right mindset or if that’s something you might need to adjust or change.  I hope you found this quote helpful this month, because I know I did.

Conclusion

I have always liked quotes and have been fascinated by how so much meaning can be summed up so perfectly in a single phrase. I really hope you like this project and choose to partake in the process. But, even if you decide not to comment, or not to leave a quote in your comments, I hope you find this Henry Ford quote, and the inspirational quotes of the month project helpful and motivational.

Let me know what you think. Do you like this project? Is it a dumb idea? Any suggestions for improvement? Let me know by commenting below.

    Hi DP.
    I think it’s a great idea!
I remember a quote that I heard in the gym recently:
“No matter how slow you are going, you are still lapping those sitting on the couch” or something very similar.
I think this works not only for running competitions or fitness but also for every field of your life. I definitely could apply this to my passive income from dividends and other investments. Even though, I am only getting ~10EUR/month from passive income, it is still better than nothing and it will only get bigger 🙂

Great BI. I’ve never heard that quote before, although I have a similar quote that means the same thing. Will definitely include it in next month’s post. And I’m glad you think it’s a great idea.

Cool Idea Glen. Here’s one of my faves that’s taped to my monitor at work. It reminds me of my past (and my past life with money), and I also use it as a daily reminder to still have fun, but now the fun is a budget item! I still spend on the first two, but I’ve (for the most part) weened myself on boats.

Cool idea port. I like this kind of stuff. One I really like and i forget the original speaker maybe Eric thomas?
“Excuses only matter for the people making them”. I think its a great quote and it tends to stop me from making excuses.

I love this idea. It is all about finding the right inspiration and figuring out what helps motivate you. I find graduation speeches motivational and I love watching the video/reading the transcripts in the spring. I’m looking forward to seeing what quote you have next month 🙂

Thanks Bert. I actually like listening to graduation speeches myself, especially when I know they are compelling speeches to listen to ahead of time. There are so many good quotes to look forward to, the difficulty is just having to choose only one!

I really like this idea. It is a great way to get everyone engaged. I’ll have to dig up some good quotes for future months. For this month how about this as far as your comment of still being new to DGI and blogging goes.
