Dividend Income Report – December 2018

By | January 1, 2019
Happy New Year

It’s official. 2018 is over! This is the final dividend income report for 2018. The year went by so fast. It’s crazy. I remember I started the year very excited. I made numerous goals and was looking forward to achieving them throughout the year. In another post, I will write about the extent to which I’ve achieved my yearly goals. But, all of a sudden, it seems I am right back to where the year started, creating new goals and again excited for a new year. So let’s get right to it and break down the dividend income report for 2018 one last time.

Dividend Income

In December, I received a total of $140.24 in dividends broken down as follows:

NO.STOCKNAMEDIVIDENDS
1PFEPfizer $13.20
2GWWW.W. Grainger $8.04
3MMM3M Company $11.79
4ORealty Income $8.45
5KOCoca Cola $14.58
6MCDMcDonalds $12.09
7EMREmerson $12.31
8XOMExxon $36.85
9JNJJohnson & Johnson $22.93
 $140.24

Not too bad. One of the things I’ve noticed is that KO pays out in both October and December. Still, the dividends are moving in the right direction. And, as indicated in my last post, I keep building shares, which I do by reinvesting the dividends back into the portfolio. Not a bad way to finish the year.

Annual Comparison

Below is a graphical representation of my dividends this year as compared to last:

Here is the raw data:

MONTH20172018Rate
April$0.41 $31.47 7575.61%
May$2.85 $79.33 2683.51%
June$16.89 $98.51 483.24%
July$5.99 $42.32 606.51%
August$21.95 $108.44 394.03%
September$28.72 $111.15 287.01%
October$23.21 $48.09 107.20%
November$62.11 $124.92 101.13%
December$76.51 $140.24 83.30%

As you can see, the percentage rate is going down but an 83.3% increase from last year is still pretty good. I suspect that next year’s number might not be so great based on the reduction of my contribution to my portfolio, but only time will tell. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the fact that I finished 2018 strong!

Forward Annual Dividends

At the time of this writing, my forward annual dividends is $1282.03. A month ago, my forward annual dividends was $1246.31. This represents an increase of $36.12 or 2.89% in my forward annual dividend income. I’m getting closer to that $1500 mark, which will happen 2019. But it might take a little longer than I would have liked because of that pesky reduction in minimum contribution. But, slow and steady wins the race!

Conclusion

2018 is over but there’s a whole new year to look forward to. It’s very exciting. 2019 will sure bring challenges but I fully expect it will also bring opportunities, for all of us. I hope we all have a Happy New Year!

Nice growth DP. Expect the growth rates to go down in the future. Its a reflection of the maturity of your portfolio … its a good thing πŸ™‚ I am excited to look at your 2019 numbers. Happy New Year!

Hi DP. Nice numbers. We did well also. Altough dividend received in Y2018 was similar to y2017 but next year should be better as shifting to more stable US companies. Sum of received dividends in 2017 and 2018 under the table would be nice. And man 1200$ forwads dividens. Thats 100$/mo πŸ˜‰ Something tangable already.

I haven’t looked at it like that, but yea, $100 on average per month coming in is nice. Looking forward to following your progress in 2019 as well.

Very nice work and a good finish to the year DP! It has been great watching your portfolio grow, and even in some months where there were limited contributions, those dividends kept rolling in!

Keep rolling with the punches and doing your best, I look forward to seeing continued growth in your portfolio!

Congrats on the record month and year. Your portfolio is right around mine and it took you half the time haha. This is going to be a good year for both of us. Looks like the extra capital you have been putting in is paying off. Best of luck this year!

Your chart paints a very nice picture when comparing your 2017 to 2018 results. Reading through your list of companies that paid you and I see we share many names for the month. Clearly you are headed in the right direction and have a nice base to build you 2019 totals.

Hey DP! Nice to see you finished the year on a strong note. I was hoping for one more triple-digit growth month for you before 2018 came to an end, but you can’t knock 83% YoY growth.
I agree with DivHut in that your dividend chart is looking great. I suspect there will be more great progress in 2019 for you, despite the reduction in contributions.
I was able to initiate a position in MMM at the end of the year and am looking forward to my first dividend payment from the company in 2019. I believe a dividend raise from MMM may be just around the corner as well. Let’s hope for something big.
    Best of luck in 2019.

Happy new year ED. You definitely can’t argue with 83% YoY growth! Congratulations on a strong finish as well. Regarding MMM, I’m looking forward to a dividend increase. Because of the way M1 Finance works, and because of how pricy MMM is, I haven’t invested it in a while. I have the fewest shares in MMM. I’m looking forward to building that up. Thanks as always for stopping by ED. I’ll visit your blog soon.
