Inspirational Quote of the Month – December 2017

By | December 14, 2017

It’s that time of the month for me to choose an inspirational quote to help get me and my readers through the month.  We could all use a little inspiration every now and again.  You never know. Maybe that one saying is what someone needs to hear to help get them through a situation, express how they are feeling, or just to give them more motivation they need.  Maybe it’s just a cool quote that brings a smile to your face. Whatever the reason, I hope you enjoy the following quotes from me and the DGI community.

Inspirational Quotes for December

Before I share with you the quote of the month, let’s review last month’s quote.

My inspirational quote for November was:  “I cried because I have no shoes, until I met a man with no feet.”

My inspirational quote for December is:  “When you’re happy, you enjoy the music.  When you’re sad, you understand the lyrics.” – Frank Ocean.

I think this definitely has some truth to it.  A lot of times when I’m happy, I’m enjoying the music and the way it makes me feel. I do admit that sometimes I am happy because I listen to and understand the lyrics. But, by and large, I agree with the quote.  When I’m said, I definitely pay attention to the lyrics of some songs. It’s probably dependent on the song and how I’m feeling, but I would generally agree with this quote.  I hadn’t really heard it until recently, and wanted to share it.  Hopefully, you like it is as well.

By the way, there’s a possibility that Frank Ocean didn’t first say it, but I think he did at one point.

Inspirational Quotes from the DGI Community

Here we go.  These are the inspirational quotes from the DGI Community last month.  As always, if you want your quotes to appear in the section below, just leave me your quote in the comment section before publication of the next edition of the inspirational quotes of the month.

Dividends Diversify – “I had the blues because I had no shoes. Until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet.” – Dale Carnegie’s book, Would You Take A Million Dollars For What You Have.  This is a modification from the quote of the month for November and one that I hadn’t heard before. But, it’s also one that Tom from Dividend Diversity has thought about for years.  Tom also threw in “our life is what our thoughts make it” by Marcus Aurelius. Thanks Tom.

Handy Millennial“A tree does not grow stronger without wind.”  Good one HM.  I hadn’t heard this one before either.

Dividend Daze“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.  If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey.  I got to admit that my mom is a huge Oprah Winfrey fan. With quotes like these, I guess I can see why.

Passive Canadian Income“You cannot connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.  So you have to trust the dots will somehow connect in your future.” – Steve Jobs.  This is a stark reminder that it’s important to remember and learn from our past in better hopes for a brighter future.

Dividend Geek“The beauty of owning the market is that you eliminate individual stock risk, you eliminate market sector risk, and you eliminate manager risk.” – Jack Bogle.  Dividend Geek brought it home with a quote from the founder of The Vanguard Group, and a reminder of the importance of diversification in our portfolios.

Conclusion

There you have it.  Hopefully one or more of the above quotes will help inspire you to get you through the last month of the year! As a reminder, if you want your favorite quote included in this monthly post, just leave it in the comment section below.

What is your favorite quote? Did you like any on the list?  Let me know by commenting below.  Now, go forth and be inspired!

    Hey DP,

as always, fun to read your quotes. I have to admit that the december quote doesn’t fit for me. I love music and especially the lyrics. The songs become so more meaningful and you can soak in the atmosphere better when paying attention to the lyrics.

I really like the November quote, though! It let’s you see the bigger picture and looking forward…
In this context i have another quote:

“Happy are those, who take life day by day, complain very little, and are thankful for the little things in life” – Unknown author.

Awesome quotes DS. It’s ok that you’re not feeling the December quote. It was less inspirational but more of a way to express how someone feels sometimes.

I think the december quote is great and seems true. If im happy my shoulders cant stop popping to the beat. Cant stop wont stop but if im sad the music also changes. Like i listen to different music and enjoy the lyrics and connect.
    My dec quote

The future belongs to those who prepare for it today – malcolm x

When i was younger i lived in the now. Not considering the future. It made it harder to get a house etc etc now that im planning for the future things seem to get easier and easier.

    Hello again DP,
I got a lot of my personal finance inspiration from my Dad. I remember in my 20’s he told me “most people work for money, smart people have money work for them”. I doubt he made it up, but I googled it and couldn’t come with a source so I will have to give him the credit.

Thanks for the inclusion in the post.

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

We are going into the end of the year and deciding what our upcoming goals will be for the future and how to achieve them. All we can do is focus on what we are doing now to set ourselves up for success in the future. Sames goes for dividends and financial freedom. If we invest now and play the smart long game, ourselves from years down the road will be ever grateful for it.

good and bad Mr. ATM. I might very well make it the subject of my next post. But, the good is that I started working out and eating more healthy. The bad is I still need to cut back on drinking. But, overall I think I’m making progress in the right direction.
