Dividend Income Report – April 2019

By | May 1, 2019

The first quarter of the new year is gone. Tax season is behind us. And don’t get me started on the last episode of Game of Thrones! We now enter the second quarter. As a dividend growth investor, I can take comfort in the fact that my dividends are constantly working for me in the background. Even when Game of Thrones disappoint (looking at your Arya!), my dividends don’t. April was a slow month for dividend income. But slow and steady wins the race. My dividend portfolio continually works for me in the background.

Let’s see how much dividend income I received for the month of April.

Dividend Income

UPDATE: August 2, 2019. You’ll notice that some of the figures below are lined through. That’s because at the time I made this post, I inadvertently reported inaccurate numbers. The line-through numbers are the ones that were inaccurately reported. The graph has been updated accordingly.

In April, I received a total of $63.76 $55.39 in dividends broken down as follows:

NO.STOCKNAMEDIVIDENDS
1KOCoca Cola $16.55
2KMBKimberly Clark $16.66
3CSCOCisco $22.18 $13.81
4ORealty Income $8.37
$63.76 $55.39

The first quarter is usually my slow month. I am happy that I crossed the $50 mark but I really want to get to triple digits for this month. I am patient and the dividends will only continue to snowball month after month.

Annual Comparison

Below is a graphical representation of my dividends so far:

Here is the raw data:

MONTH201720182019Rate
January$0.00 $14.93 $37.54 151.44%
February$0.00 $77.66 $141.16 81.77%
March$0.00 $72.93 $136.45 87.10%
April$0.41 $31.47 $63.76 $55.39102.61% 76.01%
May$2.85 $79.33
June$16.89 $98.51
July$5.99 $42.32
August$21.95 $108.44
September$28.72 $111.15
October$23.21 $48.09
November$62.11 $124.92
December$76.51 $140.24

As you can see, I earned over $100% 76.01% increase in dividends as compared to last year. Granted, that is not all organic growth. I do contribute monthly to my dividend portfolio. But, that is healthy growth right there!

The Dividend Tracker has been updated accordingly.

Adopt-A-Stock Project

I did not make any purchase in April. However, for the month of May, I’ve decided to adopt ABBV. I’ve already purchased one additional share and I’ll write about this more in June’s monthly dividend report.

Forward Annual Dividends

At the time of this writing, my forward annual dividend is $1415.42. A month ago, my forward annual dividend was $1380.11. This represents an increase of $35.31 or 3.00% in my forward annual dividend income. I’m getting closer to that $1500 mark, which will happen in 2019. Now that I’ve once again increased the minimum contribution to my dividend portfolio, I hopefully will cross that threshold sooner rather than later. In any case, the dividends are slowly but surely working for me behind the scenes.

Conclusion

Well, there you have it. My dividend portfolio is moving along. April wasn’t the biggest month in terms of actual dividends received but the annual growth rate from last year is impressive.

I have some big plans for 2019 so keep reading to see what’s in store. Hint, I’m itching to buy another house. The big question though is where! Stay tuned!

Nice month DP! Don’t worry, you will cross the 3-digit mark for the month real soon. The snowball gets bigger and bigger. You are in the homestretch in breaking the $1,500 mark. That’s awesome! Keep up the great work! 😀

New reader here! how much is in your portfolio to make that return? I’m just about to start building a monthly dividend fund too and want to match yours.

Very nice month DP! Especially when you compare it to last year. More than 100% growth is always good.

Great progress, DP. You’ve been consistent with the large YoY growth rates every month this year. Keep it going!
You received a nice chuck of cash from just a handful of companies, but they all look poised to continue delivering for years to come. I only share O with you for now.
I like that you adopted ABBV this month. Adding some shares under $80 may be in the cards for me, too.

Well the last season of GoT has come and gone. Sorry to say it really disappointed but not Arya in any case 🙂

Love your CSCO results, pretty awesome to receive that cash. We are somewhat tied this month, since I got €62,90! 🙂

Ya, don’t get me started on GOT. I was over the season when the night king died the way he did.

I felt the same way. They tried to rush 6 story line endings into 6 episodes. And why? Because the writers wanted to move onto StarWars. An eternal shame, well at least we got 7 amazing seasons.

I suppose that’s one way of looking at it.
