August is here. Thank goodness. July was EXPENSIVE!!! I had this, that or the other to contend with and each of them cost money. Oh well. I still have a small obligation of a few hundred dollars to take care of but after that, the bleeding will hopefully stop. Still, I’m looking forward to August being a productive month. It also will be a tad bit expensive, but less so than July. Well, enough of my rambling and ranting. You’re here to see how much dividends I earned in July. Did I break any records? Did I reach a new milestone? Let’s dive in.
Dividend Income
In July, I received a total of $59.68 in dividends broken down as follows:
NO. | STOCK | NAME | DIVIDENDS |
1 | CSCO | Cisco | $14.26 |
2 | KMB | Kimberly Clark | $18.34 |
3 | KO | Coca Cola | $18.69 |
4 | O | Realty Income | $8.39 |
$59.68 |
Initially when I did my report, the total dividends were less than the previous quarter. I hadn’t sold any shares and none of the dividends were cut so it didn’t make sense. When I went back to double-check, I realized that I had reported inaccurate dividends for CSCO in my April 2019 report. I reported that I received $22.18 in dividends from CSCO when I should have reported $13.81. I updated the numbers in that report.
With that being said, $59.68 is still respectable, although a far cry from the triple-digit months I’ve been getting in the other quarters.
Annual Comparison
Below is a graphical representation of my dividends so far:
Here is the raw data:
MONTH | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | Rate |
January | $0.00 | $14.93 | $37.54 | 151.44% |
February | $0.00 | $77.66 | $141.16 | 81.77% |
March | $0.00 | $72.93 | $136.45 | 87.10% |
April | $0.41 | $31.47 | $55.39 | 76.01% |
May | $2.85 | $79.33 | $142.69 | 79.87% |
June | $16.89 | $98.51 | $160.47 | 62.90% |
July | $5.99 | $42.32 | $59.68 | 41.02% |
August | $21.95 | $108.44 | ||
September | $28.72 | $111.15
October | $23.21 | $48.09 | ||
November | $62.11 | $124.92
December | $76.51 | $140.24 |
A 41% increase from last year is not bad at all. I’ll take that any day of the week.
Finally, the Dividend Tracker has been updated.
Forward Annual Dividends – Milestone Reached
At the time of this writing, my forward annual dividends is $1512.96. Yes!!! I crossed the $1500 milestone for the first time ever. I’m very excited. A month ago, my forward annual dividends was $1496.25. This represents another 1% increase from the previous month. I usually average around a 3% increase from month-to-month. Itβs clear that the lack of a significant increase in my forward annual dividends is due to the significant reduction in my monthly contributions to my portfolio. And that’s because of my desire to purchase a condo. Still, a 1% increase is much better than 0%.
Conclusion
Life is getting interesting and my expenses have been through the roof this past month. Although a lot of the expenses I spent money on were frivolous, a good deal of those expenses were necessary. As the months go by, I am constantly tweaking my finances to help prepare me for the future.
August and September will be pivotal months. There’s a decent chance I’ll make an offer on a condo during this time frame. I go back and forth between getting a really expensive condo or a really cheap one. Only time will tell. Although I don’t have a set timeline, and I can always walk away from buying, chances are high that I will make an offer on a place sooner rather than later. I will keep the community updated.
Until then, I will keep reporting on the dividends I’ve earned. Wish me luck, and remember, Winter Is Coming!

Thanks Frankie.
Congrats DP on crossing $1,500 in forward dividends! Love seeing those $500 milestones getting crossed off. And I completely understand about life just getting in the way of your plans sometimes. It seems like every time there’s been a light at the end of the tunnel for our debt reduction, and then return to investing all excess cash flow, something always seems to pop up. First there was the roof that needed to be replaced, then the air conditioner needed to be replaced, then I got in an accident in December and got a new car and I’m sure there’s lots of other things that I can’t recall any more. The key thing is to keep moving forward even if there’s bumps in the road. All the best!

It really is amazing how often life happens when we make plans. I agree with you, in that what’s important is that we continue to move forward!
Congrats DP! Even an “off” month can be a great month. A 41% YOY increase is a fantastic way to illustrate that. Congratulations on crossing the $1500 milestone! That is huge! Keep up the fantastic work! Soon all of your months will be triple digits. π

Thanks Dynasty. I can’t wait for all the months to be triple-digits!
Solid month! Really like your companies that paid out in July. And right, 41% increase is pretty awesome. Brought in $177.88 from 12 companies last month over here. Keep it up!
